Pale Moon: Site News28 Jan 2012An update to Pale Moon 3.6.x. has been released today, making it 3.6.29, which fixes some security and stability issues for this tried and tested browser branch.24 Jan 2012Pale Moon 9.1 has been released. This includes all versions: 32-bit and 64-bit, desktop and portable.Pale Moon 9.1 is a bugfix release, addressing security, stability and functional issues, incorporating code from Firefox 10. There will be no Pale Moon v10! The next major release will be version 11, scheduled for March. 18 Jan 2012Today, for one day, the website has been blacked out in protest against the proposed PIPA and SOPA legislations in the United States and similar proposed laws in the rest of the world, violating freedom of speech and paving the way for unbridled and arbitrary censorship on the Internet.09 Jan 2012After some delays, Pale Moon 9.0.1 has been released. Version 9.0 remains unpublished due to its performance issues. This includes all versions: 32-bit, 64-bit and Portable versions of both releases.17 Nov 2011Pale Moon 3.6.27 has been released, which fixes several security issues and a major performance issue.14 Nov 2011Pale Moon 8.0 has been released today! This is a major update building on the Firefox 8.0 code base, with additional improvements to make browsing faster and smoother overall. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are released in tandem. Also some minor updates of the style on the web page, to improve readability on most screens. 29 Oct 2011Pale Moon 3.6.26 has been released, which is a minor update to address issues with Asian fonts. The Portable versions have been updated to incorporate compacting techniques so they take less space on your stick (and will inherently load faster from slow media):
20 Oct 2011A portable version of Pale Moon 7.0.1-x64 has been created. This includes a new 64-bit launcher for the portable browser (which has been the hangup until now). Also, a new mirror has been added in a few locations, on donated space of one of the beta testers. Thanks for that! 19 Oct 2011Pale Moon 7.0.1-x64 (64-bit) has been released. This addresses a few smaller performance issues - more are in the works, but hampered by the instability of the Microsoft Visual C compiler (it keeps crashing when building).07 Oct 2011Pale Moon 7.0.1 has been released, and update to address a performance issue.01 Oct 2011Pale Moon 7.0 has been released -- a new major release based on the Firefox 7.0.1 release code.Pale Moon 3.6.24 has been released -- this version incorporates a number of security updates to the browser. 21 Sep 2011Pale Moon 3.6.23 has been released -- this is the first version that combines the SSE and SSE2 builds as stated in the previous news entry.13 Sep 2011There will be an important change in the release framework for Pale Moon 3.6.x. Some serious thought has gone into this decision and I feel it is the right time to simplify things.Starting with the next release, the version 3.6.x branch of Pale Moon will see a unification of the two versions currently being released, and making all releases of that version of the browser SSE builds. This means that work will be more focused on fewer releases, and it will be less confusing for Pale Moon users to decide which build they need for themselves. Reasoning:
So, the advantages:
If you have any concerns about this, feel free to make use of the forum to chat with other users or direct your questions towards me. 10 Sep 2011Today is the twin release date of Pale Moon 3.6.22 and 6.0.2!Also, the web site sees a few changes:
07 Sep 2011There was a really odd problem with DNS lookups due to a connection glitch with the ISP the master DNS server is on for palemoon.org.This has been fixed now, but it means the forum, start page and web page may have had "host not found" errors for a while. Hopefully this won't happen again. If it does, I'll have to look into rehoming the master DNS server to somewhere that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to operate. 31 Aug 2011In response to the DigiNotar compromised CA certificate, Pale Moon will not be releasing an update to the browser for the sole purpose of removing a certificate from its built-in storage. More information on the forum: http://bit.ly/rr20Y129 Aug 2011Pale Moon now has an official forum site: http://forum.palemoon.org/25 Aug 2011The Pale Moon start page was changed again to completely host on a high capacity server now - thanks to Sity hosting once again for helping the Pale Moon project out with bandwidth. The news page is located at http://start.palemoon.org/ but the website will automatically forward you to it to not break with current defaults.24 Aug 2011The Pale Moon start page was changed to externalize its graphic files (using imageshack instead) - the web hoster for www.palemoon.org seems to have trouble handling the traffic of the many hits to the page with a lot of small files in it. This change should make the start page a lot more speedy to load.23 Aug 2011Pale Moon 6.0 has been released! Desktop, Portable and x64 (64-bit) versions of the browser are now available.15 Aug 2011I've made a start to display Google AdSense ads on the Pale Moon start page. I hate to resort to this but the few and far between donations for the browser don't cover my costs for hosting the site, even with the low rate I pay for it. The ads may not be very relevant for the time being, since the ads are still "training" for content.13 Aug 2011The Athlon XP (SSE) version of Pale Moon 3.6.20 has been released.Work has started on Pale Moon 6.0, for which the source code has been finalized at Mozilla. 10 Aug 2011Pale Moon 3.6.20 has been released. This is a minor update to the 3.6 series of browsers.29 Jul 2011As of today, the website has been moved back to its original hosting machine. Unfortunately I wasn't notified beforehand with sufficient margin so the site (including the start page) has been unavailable due to latent DNS updates for a little while.20 Jul 2011Yesterday, the web server machine hosting www.palemoon.org and a number of related sites suffered a catastrophic hardware failure. The website has been unavailable for a little over a day because of that. This also impacted the web installer and updates to the browser. The web hosting company has been working to move the accounts to a different machine, which has been completed. the DNS update with the new IP address shouldn't take long which will see the site fully accessible again world-wide. 14 Jul 2011Mozilla has released 3.6.19 and 5.0.1 which incorporate MacOS specific workarounds for MacOS specific bugs. These versions will be skipped as they don't apply to Pale Moon (being Windows only, Mac OS is not a supported platform).25 Jun 2011Pale Moon 5.0 has been released! Desktop, portable and x64 have been released. Some important things to note with this release:
20 Jun 2011Pale Moon 3.6.18 has been released! Desktop & Portable, Regular and AthlonXP versions.19 Jun 2011The website server is having technical difficulties. The web hosting provider is working on getting this resolved ASAP.04 Jun 2011The PHP download script borked yet again today, so I've tossed it out. Working links is more important than my personal desire for statistics.02 Jun 2011Pale Moon 3.6.17 has been released! This includes Desktop and Portable Regular and Athlon XP versions.01 Jun 2011Apparently, the PHP download script borked today, wiping out ALL the download links. I'm not sure what happened, but I'll make sure to keep a backup of the storage file with the links and IDs from now on. :/30 May 2011Pale Moon 4.0.7 has been released today - Destop/Portable/x64 versions are released simultaneously.09 May 2011Pale Moon 4.0.6 has been released. This marks an update to the underlying Firefox source code, fixing a large number of bugs, as well as some Pale Moon specific updates. In development news: I am currently looking at possibly switching over to Visual Studio 2010, but ran into one showstopper problem: it will not allow the C runtime libraries to be rebuilt with optimizations. The overall performance of the browser increases using the new compiler, but at the same time any data handling and memory intensive processes from the browser take such a large performance hit it has been unacceptable to use; in addition, it will prevent older operating systems (pre XP with SP2) from being used. Microsoft has "blackboxed" part of the code development there and it is up to them to release the required scripts and binaries to allow private CRTs to once again be built. Development on Pale Moon will also be halted for a little while as international travel will commence soon. 01 May 2011A small update has been made to the installer of the 64-bit version of Pale Moon (4.0.5-x64) to fix a compatibility issue with Windows XP x64. Previously, the installer would not allow installation on this O.S., even if the browser would be fine running on it! This update is for the installer only, and does not affect the browser, so no need to worry if you already have this version installed.23 Apr 2011The main problems with building an x64 version seem to finally have been overcome, and as such, the 4.0.5-x64 version has been released today!13 Apr 2011Pale Moon 4.0.5 has been released, addressing a number of different bugs.08 Apr 2011An update to Pale Moon 4 has been released, to address a nasty crash bug in print preview/printing, as well as provide a few other fixes and improvements.03 Apr 2011It was brought to my attention (thanks, Henry!) that the website would not display correctly if a default font size in options was set to anything but the standard 16pt. It would actually make the menu mess up and not be fully navigable -- This has now been corrected, and www.palemoon.org should display as-designed.01 Apr 2011The x64 (64-bit) version of Pale Moon 4.0 has been released today.30 Mar 2011The language packs have been released for Pale Moon 4.0 - Three languages are not available, because the equivalent packs for Firefox are not available either (which they are based on). The languages involved are not major, so it's not a big issue. Then, what cost most of today: x64 builds. As it turns out, the Microsoft Visual C compiler is horribly broken when targeting a 64-bit platform with a complex piece of software. It throws "Internal compiler errors" and simply breaks down when compiling with whole program optimization (which is essential for Pale Moon's performance). Bugs have been filed at Microsoft for this like 101287 and a few others which have all been closed as "fixed" or "by design" but having no solution posted or patch reference (i.e.: they were put under the big Microsoft rock, in the mud). Other people when optimizing have apparently run into the same problem on Mozilla code like on Thunderbird. The solution: disabling PGO and even removing /GL entirely -- this produces stable builds. However, performance of those builds is abysmal compared to 32-bit versions. Performance would be the only plus point of running a native 64 build instead of a 32-bit build, everything else would be a trade-off (like lacking proper Flash and other plugin support). Alternative solution: Get VS 2008 SP1 (full version) - Not something easily funded, and no guarantees that this will fix the issue straight-up, either. The free "Express" version doesn't allow for the use of jemalloc (custom-built CRT) which will also impact performance, doesn't support PGO, and has a few other limitations not easily overcome. What does this mean for Pale Moon? No official releases for x64 for a while yet, until this issue can be solved somehow. Some experimental builds may be released in the [Dev] section, but they will be and remain experimental for the time being, and for the tech-savvy only. 28 Mar 2011A major update to the website to incorporate (almost) everything needed for version 4.0 of the browser, released today! This release will be staged - things like language packs and updates to the Pale Moon tools will be handled later. 26 Mar 2011* Pale Moon 4.0 is in its final stages of testing. Expect a release next week somewhere (if I don't get swamped with work).* 3.6.16 has been looked at and will be skipped. The reason is that this deals with a rather dirty hack in a non-structured way in one of the modules to patch up a condition that is extremely unlikely to occur. Next to this hack, there are no changes from 3.6.15! Notable quotes from the bug filed for this: Comodo: "A long-term trusted partner of Comodo which has an RA function suffered an internal security breach
and the attacker caused 7 certificates to be issued." The bogus certs were revoked within hours. "... can prevent the victim from contacting the OSCP responder ..." (meaning it is only an issue if you cannot check the certificate online - extremely unlikely since the attacker would need to have the certificates as well as control over your local network) "Filed bug 642503 on moving a more generic version of this blacklist functionality into NSS proper for a future version." (the current patch is injecting code in the connection module. not pretty and a dirty hack) Comodo: "We have analysed our OCSP responder logs and we see no evidence of any of these certificates having seen traffic in the wild other than 2 hits from the attacker himself (from the already mentioned 212.95.136.18 and the almost adjacent 212.95.136.20) and also hits from Comodo staff testing and from Microsoft, Google, and (we think) Mozilla staff testing. The earliest OCSP hit we see is at 15/Mar/2011:21:39:43 UTC, which is after the latest revocation - which was at 20:19 UTC." (i.e.: no need to panic - the gravity of the principle of these certificates being issued is severe, but there is no practical threat.) 04 Mar 2011Just after releasing .14 and getting everything set, I can go back to building, as someone made a big mistake in the plugin handler code for the browser. Expect 3.6.15 to be released before the weekend is out!If you are having crucial problems with java applets not working and you NEED this functionality NOW, then please download the previous version (3.6.13) and run on that until .15 is out: 3.6.13 Installer 04 Mar 2011Pale Moon 3.6.14 is released to the public. Regular/portable/AthlonXP versions in one go.At the same time, work has started on a planned web-installer (on-line installer) package for future releases. This should eliminate the need for people to use trial-and-error if they don't know their processor's capabilities, and offer to download the appropriate version for their system automatically, as well as offering the choice between version 3 and 4 when released. 28 Jan 2011Pale Moon 4.0 development has been picked up again, and now has a dedicated information page about the development of the browser. http://www.palemoon.org/pm4-dev.shtml12 Dec 2010Pale Moon 3.6.13 has been released. This has been the maiden task for the new build machine: an IBM Thinkcentre with P4, 2GB of RAM and a quiet WD Serial ATA drive. A sturdy, heavy black metal desktop box that I think will serve me for some time to come! Thanks go to all the donators who have made this possible - every little bit helps!I'm also looking into better structuring this news page and potentially setting up an RSS or Atom feed for people to more easily keep up with news. Twitter is OK for very brief statuses but I tend to have more to say than can be fit in 140 characters. 03 Nov 2010 00:30Pale Moon 3.6.12 for Athlon XP is now available. Installer, zip, and (new this version) a pre-packaged Portable version as well.01 Nov 2010 12:00With the announcement of Mozilla planning the first release candidate of Firefox 4 no sooner than early 2011, development on this branch for Pale Moon has been put on ice for the time being.Beta 6 proving to be as unstable as it is, and obviously full of problems and constantly changing features in the branch, it will be a waste of time to do more preliminary work based on it for Pale Moon until the community has settled on both a feature set and a stable core for the next major version of this browser. Pale Moon 4.0 will probably remain on hold until either the final stages of RCs or until a final release has been made public by the Mozilla Corporation - after which, time will be spent developing Pale Moon on (near-)release code to provide a hopefully stable and efficient release after thorough testing. This will take time. In the meantime, full focus will be on the current branch releases of 3.6.x 28 Oct 2010 20:00A manual patch of the browser source was used to address a critical security vulnerability that pushed Mozilla to release Firefox 3.6.12 today. This vulnerability is severe enough (and actively exploited in the wild) to provide a 0-day rebuild of Pale Moon with this exploit vulnerability fixed. (Don't ask me how I squeezed it in on this otherwise full day.)There may be a slight performance trade-off for this patch (if not countered by the manual profiling done for this version), but that will be addressed in a later release if it's severe enough. 28 Oct 2010 00:30To protect people's privacy with the increasing popularity of the browser, the decision was made to no longer include e-mail addresses with the testimonials. If you do wish to submit a testimonial, please do include a mention of either your full name or unique handle, and your city/country, otherwise your submission will be discarded. There are too many people named Chris, John, or Joe in the world to include with just a first name...27 Oct 2010 09:00Apparently, there have been a few sites hosting corrupted installers on the release date. For some reason, some download sites had already updated the file even before it was completely distributed on the main download mirrors; the source of this corrupt installer is being investigated, but it will not install due to 7-zip's internal CRC check and give an error.A few major sites with corrupted downloads have been notified of the problem and have fixed it, but it is unknown how many other unofficial mirroring sites are still suffering from incorrect installers - make sure to check the MD5 checksum (if you can) of your downloads to make sure you have a correct, non-corrupted installer! It is, at all times, recommended to download software directly from the author's website, for any software. In case of doubt, download a fresh copy from palemoon.org. 26 Oct 2010 14:00Pale Moon 3.6.11 has been released! Please check the release notes to see what has changed.Pale Moon and Pale Moon Portable have been updated at this point in time, the Athlon XP version will follow later. Also: Continued problems with Dediplanet and unavailability at this time of release has forced me to scrap them as a main download mirror. As usual, Depositfiles and Divshare are available as alternatives, next to the new main mirror at Sity hosting. Unfortunately, getting a commercial download server for this project is not a viable option, as there is no budget for such a thing. 22 Oct 2010 21:30Thanks to![]() Pale Moon now has a new main download mirror. 22 Oct 2010 10:30Pale Moon 3.6.11 is in the works, and will be released when there has been sufficient free time to implement required changes and to build and test the browser.11 Oct 2010 08:30It's been a year now since Pale Moon has been launched - Happy anniversary to me!Looking back, a lot has changed in the past year:
30 Sep 2010 10:30Made some changes to the technical page, to include relevant changed source files as a link; this should (finally) take away any licensing concerns people have expressed, apparently. It's been on the to-do list for a long time (too long) - fixed now!27 Sep 2010 12:00Added a Tweet button to the pages, to allow people to post a link to the website with a single click on Twitter.26 Sep 2010 12:00Pale Moon 3.6.9 for Athlon XP has been released, with the necessary changes to the site. This build will be discontinued for Pale Moon 4 - it's too time-consuming to compile and update every time, as well as the supported hardware rapidly falling in disuse by now.18 Sep 2010 12:00Firefox 3.6.10 has been looked at. The Firefox code base for 3.6.10 has as little as a single line of code in the source changed, that addresses a -potential- instability issue upon startup for Mozilla builds. They pushed the release mostly because ofproblems they encountered with one specific version of the Personas+ add-on (has been superseded already to fix it), and to update the blocklist for that. It would be a complete waste of everyone's time to build Pale Moon on that code base, that is otherwise exactly the same as 3.6.9, so that version will be skipped. 14 Sep 2010 12:00Pale Moon 3.6.9 has been released, including the portable version! Of course the necessary updates to the site have been made as well. Also released at the same time are the language packs in all languages that are available for Mozilla Firefox. 07 Sep 2010 17:30I've started adding Pale Moon specific language packs, to have the UI in other native languages. More will be added as I complete them. So far, prioritized based on the number of users in global regions: Danish, German, U.K. English, Spanish (Spain+Mexico), Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Norwegian (Nynorsk), Portufuese (Brazil+Portugal) and Swedish.02 Sep 2010 22:30Dediplanet is back to the previous hosting setup, prior to moving datacenters. I guess it really didn't work out at the new location. Also: Pale Moon 3.6.8a for Athlon XP has now been released to the public! This version fixes the 3.6.8 problems the main browser was suffering from, as well as reintroducing the automatic update checker, Mozilla style - took some digging, but I finally figured out how to have it check on the correct server, and what it expects to find, to be able to check for updates. 31 Aug 2010 15:45It seems that after some extended problems with Dediplanet's download links, it is working again. Here's to hoping that these kinds of problems don't happen too often. Still unsure what exactly the issue was.27 Aug 2010 23:30Direct download link for the files has changed as per request of the Dediplanet admin.24 Aug 2010 13:15Apparently, the hosting server CPU blew - swapped to a new server @ Dediplanet, and it should be working correctly again!24 Aug 2010 09:30Seems Dediplanet is having some issues. Any links to Pale Moon downloads hosted there are down. Not sure what is going on there :/ -- The Migration tool is unavailable as well since it was the only location I had it up, but here's an alternate link I threw it at:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1466747/Palemoon/support/pmmig.exe 22 Aug 2010 01:00The direct download link at Dediplanet has moved to a new datacenter - this has caused some downtime for the direct download link, but it's back up now, and on a faster connection: 1Gbit instead of 100 Mbit.19 Aug 2010 15:00For the sake of ease, the known issues with the current release of the browser have been moved to a separate page for easy reference and to prevent the need to answer mutiple e-mails about the same thing ;)http://www.palemoon.org/knownissues.shtml 19 Aug 2010 11:00Pale Moon 3.6.8a has been released! This fixes all known issues (hopefully) that popped up with the recent changes to the browser in 3.6.6/3.6.8 and the resulting installer problems. In tandem, 3.6.8a Portable has also been released.18 Aug 2010 01:30Hopefully all of the broken links in the website have now been fixed. In other news, Pale Moon 3.6.8a is currently in tis testing phase; this update should fix a number of know issues like the installer problems and Pale Moon wrongly identifying itself as "appversion" etc. 15 Aug 2010 00:00The revamped version of the site has been launched! A lot of work went into redesigning all the pages and making navigation better. There are possibly still broken links, but they will be looked at later.07 Aug 2010 13:37 (yes really)Apparently the version of the updated dev environment I downloaded was a binary with a virus that has snuck into the compiler of it. It has been known by the company and was supposed to be fixed but it seems one of the binaries they have up for download is still an "unclean" version. has been fixed.Fortunately, the virus only affects systems with certain versions of Delphi installed and does nothing more than replicate itself. The virus has no payload and does not infect files other than one specific Delphi component. If you do not have Delphi installed the virus has NO effect. It will however trigger warnings from some anti-virus software. It is likely that the number of anti-virus applications that recognize this virus will increase over time. So contrary to my previous post, version 1.2 of the migration tool is NOT safe! It is infected with "win32/Induc" – I have updated the version of the tool immediately to 1.3, to address this issue. It does not affect the Pale Moon browser or installer of it, only the one version of the migration tool. 07 Aug 2010 13:00It seems that yesterday, someone tried to hack the feedback form by feeding it a bunch of strings. Of course this didn't result in anything beyond sending a message to my inbox for each attempt (over 100 were made), but because of the security measures in place on my mail server, it blocked a number of requests for mail delivery. It's possible that some genuine feedback messages never arrived."Acunetix": you fail. cox.net has been notified. 06 Aug 2010 12:00The profile migration tool apparently gets flagged by several Antivirus Suites as a virus/trojan/worm/joke program. This is a false positive. I'm not sure exactly what triggers this response, as it is a fairly simple program made with Neobook for the sake of (my) ease and doesn't do anything beyond copying one folder to another after checking some paths. 05 Aug 2010 12:00The profile migration tool has been updated (version 1.2 now). Previously, it would use a batch file to copy the profile folder, but since I upgraded the dev. environment I use for small programs like that I was able to internalize the file system commands. This also means it should run fine now when run directly from the download window of the browser. To be safe, I also added some checks to see if the browser is running and asking the user to close it if so - just to be on the safe side. I'm also working on redesigning the website a little, to have a better navigation menu using IE6 safe CSS (I hope). 01 Aug 2010 16:00Pale Moon updates can, from now on, also be found on Twitter!01 Aug 2010 10:00I've had a look at the installer but it's obviously "grown" and not "built top-down" so the resulting script code isn't that easy to follow. Since the double-install problem is easily fixed by uninstalling the previous version from add/remove programs, without issues, I won't be attempting to add a "directory migration" section to it.Since there are more installer issues, I -might- be looking at moving away from the NSIS installer that has been used so far, and create my own, if there is a way to integrate the superior 7-zip compression into it. 29 July 2010 14:30Some reports have come in about the installer for pale Moon 3.6.8 being inconsistent/problematic. I will have to have a look at the installer later on. Specifically, upgrading to 3.6.8 causes double entries in the start menu, desktop and registry (pale moon project and pale moon). It is recommended that you uninstall older versions before upgrading to 3.6.8. I will have a look at fixing the installer for the next release.28 July 2010 13:00Pale Moon 3.6.8 has been released! This includes updates for Pale Moon Portable and Pale Moon for Athlon XP.22 July 2010 01:30A known issue has been found in Pale Moon 3.6.6 - the Add-ons window does not display the add-ons properly that are available for download, and the "Browse all" link sends users to the wrong page at Mozilla. Information about this problem has been added to the Release Notes for 3.6.6.20 July 2010 18:00An early release of Pale Moon 3.6.6 slipped out by accident. The installer for this release is incorrect, as one of the users pointed out, and will remove the wrong profile when using the uninstaller supplied with it (Firefox, leaving Pale Moon). For the record, the correct installer (released as of today) is 8,297,476 bytes in size. Any other size, and you have a wrong release. If you used the installer for it, please download and reinstall the correct one, to overwrite the incorrect uninstaller! 19 July 2010 22:30Pale Moon 3.6.6 has been released! A major update with some significant changes, most importantly the separation from Firefox and using its own location for storing data now. Lots of changes to the site to reflect this, including an extension tot he FAQ and troubleshooting guide.13 July 2010 14:00![]() Thanks to the generous offer made by DediPlanet, Pale Moon once again has a direct download link now, no more waiting or ads. Thank you, Chris! 02 July 2010 14:30The Firefox 3.6.6 code base has been released a number of days ago. Pale Moon will follow suit when there has been sufficient time for building and testing it, but for the third and last time: development is halted for a few weeks due to relocation. Please be patient, folks! :-)There have been some concerns from people who seem to think that the main reason for holding off on a build of Pale Moon 3.6.6 with the new plugin structure has been Mozilla's rapid point releases. It is not -- there simply isn't time to work on Pale Moon at the moment. Once relocation is over with, Pale Moon will recieve attention again, and I will see where we stand at that point in time as far as Mozilla releases of code are concerned. 28 June 2010 08:30The code base has been updated yet again to solve some showstopper bugs apparently. 3.6.6 now :P I think I'll wait until Mozilla decides it's stable enough to leave it at a certain version before building anything. I'll check again after relocating what they are at at that point in time.23 June 2010 09:00A good number of people have already pointed out that Firefox 3.6.4 has been released. Like I said in my previous entry here, development is halted for the moment pending my relocation.22 June 2010 22:30Added some more testimonials to the site -- You haven't been forgotten! I appreciate all the feedback so far, although I have to be a little selective what to include on the site. Suffice it to say I'm glad to see so many people enjoy the browser :)Development will be halted for a while as I relocate. If there are new code base releases in the meantime, all you trusty Pale Moon users will have to wait and be patient until I am finished relocating. Future plans for a 3.7 release: A preliminary build of 3.7a4 has proven to be without many issues for the current set of optimizations, so that looks promising. Also, given some time, there will probably be customized Pale Moon language packs available to change the language to your preferred one, instead of having the Firefox packs. More news on that later! 29 May 2010 00:00Following some communication with the Mozilla Corporation, the "powered by Mozilla" logo has now been added to the home page - Pale Moon should also be added to the list on Mozilla's "powered by" page soon, at URL http://www.mozilla.org/poweredbyAlways good to have some more links, especially from the company maintaining the codebase releases that Pale Moon is based on ;) 14 May 2010 02:00Since there suddenly seems to be a problem with the hosting of binaries for the browser, I have been asked to remove the binaries from the main website for download. From now on, only external file hosting services will be available to download the browser. I guess the "popularity" of the browser red-flagged my hosting provider as far as bandwidth goes for the binaries. Ohwell. Sorry folks, you'll have to live with ad-supported file hosting sites from now on.OR USE BITTORRENT. 30 Apr 2010 09:30Made some additions to the FAQ, related to people having trouble with certain default preferences that cannot be easily set from the preferences dialog box, and require about:config editing.29 Apr 2010 00:00Some changes made to the site to remove some backlinks, as well as added yet another statement about side-by-side installations of Pale Moon. Sigh. I will have to look into making a very specific change to the uninstaller for all those people that DON'T READ or even bother to check the webpage of the software they install.16 Apr 2010 13:00The rewritten Technical page, including dromaeo stats, has been published, as well as a brand new FAQ for people to look through and have common questions answered.15 Apr 2010 01:30The Technical page has been pulled pending a much needed rewrite. I need to make source diffs as things have actually changed in the source for current builds of the browser, include them there, update test results and general information with the changes to to build, etc. etc. -- I'll have to see when I can squeeze that in next to my day job and my art.09 Apr 2010 13:00The Athlon XP release of Pale Moon 3.6.3 has been published. I have not been able to test this on as many machines as I would like but I trust it will run fine.05 Apr 2010 21:00I've decided to remove the magnet link in the peer-to-peer section. Nobody ever uses it and keeping an app running to seed the gnutella/ed2k networks for it on 2 systems has been a waste of resources. I'll stick purely with BitTorrent from now on.04 Apr 2010 20:00Release of Pale Moon 3.6.3, with the necessary changes to the site.Queued up is a release of the Athlon XP version within the next few days. 02 Apr 2010 03:00The sponsor ads have been removed! Thanks to the revenue I got from them I have now made enough to cover the hosting costs for palemoon.org for a little while. Hosting doesn't take much, so if people are willing to chip in for it with a small donation, the ads never have to return.31 Mar 2010 00:30Release of Pale Moon 3.6.2, nothing else shocking. Happy Spring Moon everyone!21 Mar 2010 14:00Release of Pale Moon 3.6.1, with the necessary changes to the site. ALSO: The Pale Moon persona is now available with a simple click to be installed, to get you in style completely (if you want).19 Mar 2010 13:00We're in the final stages of Pale Moon 3.6.1 with some exciting new features! Testing to be done, otherwise looks like a green board.27 Feb 2010 16:00Pale Moon 3.5.8 has been released, with the necessary changes to the site. I've drawn upon the lessons learnt from building 3.6 to give 3.5.8 an extra boost, with a custom fully-optimized runtime library to go along with it. Since this is not the "mainstream" version of Pale Moon, it is mentioned on the main page but the main release build is and will remain a 3.6 one. This will probably be the last version of the 3.5 based browsers that will be built. If 3.6 doesn't work for you for whatever reason (in most cases add-on related) then you should be able to use this for quite a while yet.11 Feb 2010 21:00Pale Moon 3.6.0.5 for Athlon XP has been released, with the necessary changes to the site. There was a little less opportunity to actually test this extensively on an Athlon XP machine but what has been tested so far has been without issues.06 Feb 2010 16:00
Pale Moon 3.6.0.5 has been released, with the necessary changes to the
