The Pale Moon Project - Custom-built and optimized Firefox browsers for Windows Operating Systems

Download Pale Moon 3.6.0.5

Version 3.6 is a major update! If you have page loading problems (most notably present in 3.5.5), please try to update to this version first. If that doesn't help please look at the troubleshooting section. If you still run into issues, please let me know (give as much detail as you can) by using the contact form.

You can also download the previous version from this page, 3.5.8, a tried and tested release. These downloads are kept available for a quick downgrade in case this major release, for whatever reason, doesn't work for you or isn't to your liking. If you are an add-on lover, you may have issues with version 3.6 -- this is an inherent Firefox codebase problem because of the major changes to the engine (Mozilla 1.9.2 instead of 1.9.1) which requires add-ons to be updated specifically for it.

These downloads are installers. At the bottom of the page there are some links to zip packed versions of the browser, that you can use to unpack to a location of your choice. If you are looking for a "portable" version of Pale Moon, click here.

Pale Moon is in the US English language
If you want to use Pale Moon in a different language, you can install a Firefox language pack. Instructions can be found here.

Note about side-by-side installations of Pale Moon and Firefox:
Pale Moon shares its profile with any existing firefox installation.
If you want to "test drive" Pale Moon first, installing it side-by-side with Firefox, please use the ZIP packed version, as the uninstaller of the browser, in case you don't like to use Pale Moon and uninstall it with the supplied uninstaller, may in some cases remove your Firefox profile (bookmarks, plugins) when used (specifically if you select not to keep your existing information with the checkbox in the uninstaller)!
Similarly, be very careful using the Firefox uninstaller when you want to permanently switch to Pale Moon after having tested it side-by-side, as the Firefox uninstaller may do the same thing.
I recommend using MozBackup to make a backup of your profile data before you uninstall either in a side-by-side setup. Just in case :)

File size for the installer is 7.6 MB

If a mirror has a grey background, it is currently experiencing problems or being updated to a new version. Please try another download location.
Because I am aware that certain administrators block some file hosting services as a policy, a (hopefully) healthy spread of different services is chosen here. Of you don't have access to a file hosting service because it is blocked, try one of the other ones.

Webmasters please note: Directly linking to download locations for files is considered bandwidth theft. You know who you are >:|
Steps have been taken to prevent this kind of theft. If you run a software site, then be a sport and host the file on your own server!

Peer-to-peer

These links are provided to lower stress on the main website. Apparently, some people have expressed concern about the use of peer-2-peer links. Since these links are direct links to specific files (using a checksum, or "hash") and a locally stored .torrent file (also including a checksum or "hash"), the links provided have no chance of being different files than the original ones. It is beyond the scope of this page to explain in detail how these links work and why they are safe, but even for a relatively small (by today's standards) download, using a distibuted network makes a big difference for stress on a web server that has limited bandwidth. Imagine 1,000 people wanting to download a 7 MB installer at once (7 GB of data right there). Would your DSL connection be able to handle that?...

ZIP packed versions (approx 10 MB)

These are simply zipped versions of the Pale Moon browser. Perfect for testing, advanced use, and quick non-invasive use (unpack and run). Note that this is not a portable browser, it stores its data in the normal user folders on the system (documents/settings or users folder). For a portable version, click here.
